Abstract : THE ROLE OF SOFT SKILLS ASSESSMENT IN RECRUITMENT
The objective of this study is to explore the role of soft skills assessment in recruitment, focusing on its impact on candidate selection, job performance, and overall recruitment outcomes. A survey design is selected for its ability to gather quantitative data from a broad range of respondents. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 330 respondents is calculated to ensure statistical significance. The case study is based in Kaduna, focusing on an educational institution that emphasizes soft skills assessment in recruitment. The reliability coefficient score of 0.88 confirms the survey's reliability. Findings indicate that soft skills assessment significantly improves candidate selection and job performance, enhancing overall recruitment outcomes. Recommendations include incorporating comprehensive soft skills assessments into the recruitment process and providing training for HR personnel on evaluating soft skills.
